BETTER THAN TALKING BEASTS

Truth is not an abstraction. It is Jesus Christ. The cosmos is not just an arrangement of matter. It is an expression of the Trinity. The basis of the universe is personal. All that is has its being in God. Knowing who were are and what we may become is found in the Light who is Christ. Jesus of Nazareth joins us to God and as such to Reality.
 
TALKING BEASTS
 
We can do better than be ‘talking beasts.’You may have heard the words, ‘Dead men walking’ or ‘Dead men talking’. It refers to people who are alive but remain dead in spirit and ill in soul. There are people who are monkeys who think they are lions as C. S. Lewis indicates in The Last Battle. But there are many good people who are much more than they are except they are not living in their true selves. I’m speaking mainly of religious people since these are the people to whom these posts are written.
 
Gregory Boyd’s ‘Repenting of Religion’ may be challenging if religion is all we have. But if Christ is our life we will have need of little else. Enveloped in the communion of the Trinity by Jesus Christ you are imbued with God and made your True Self. This is the church Jesus builds without human hands.
 
HE IS YOU
 
Many folks know that we are called ‘priests and kings’ by the Lord – but for them it remains a figure of speech more than a reality -  because they live from Christianity. But Christ is our life. Religion is the package. But the reality is Christ. The Real Most Holy Place us our communion with God in our hearts. Here in our innermost being we have communion with God and He with us. We dull this reality when we rely on on religious substitutes instead of Christ our life.
 
Many believe that Jesus came among us and went back to heaven and left us with a religion about Himself. Mainly wrong. HE LEFT US HIMSELF TO BE US. Incarnation means that Jesus manifests in His people as His People.
 
THE KINGDOM OF SONS
 
C.S. Lewis has many parables of the Kingdom in His work. The Kingdom is different to Christianity as religion. It is oneness with God. In Jesus we are one substance with God. This is the spirit of sonship that is a state of being rather than the topic for a talk. In Jesus we are one with the Father and as such are fully alive.
 
STRAWBERRY
 
A key as aspect of life to the full is to be fully yourself, undiluted by anything else. Note Aslan’s words below. “Good old Strawberry,” said Polly. “I am glad he was one of the ones picked out to be a Talking Beast.” And the Cabby, who was now standing beside the children, said, “Strike me pink. I always did say that ’oss ’ad a lot of sense, though.” Such horses have more sense than those who have made a life-long religion out of a delusion.
 
HE GIVES US OURSELVES
“Creatures, I give you yourselves,” said the strong, happy voice of Aslan. “I give to you for ever this land of Narnia. I give you the woods, the fruits, the rivers. I give you the stars and I give you myself. The Dumb Beasts whom I have not chosen are yours also. Treat them gently and cherish them but do not go back to their ways lest you cease to be Talking Beasts. For out of them you were taken and into them you can return.” (1)
